Maile Roundtree Maile Hunt Roundtree is 4th generation born and raise in the Fiji Islands, and remains true to her tropical childhood by maintaining a fascination for all things bright, sweet, and shiny. Schooled on Switzerland, Maile left a career in the hospitality after realizing that she was not, in fact, hospitable. Eight years as a wedding planner provided her with a creative outlet, but the heavy medication required in dealing with stressed out mothers of the bride caused her to seek alternate employment. She also worked as a Set and Costume Designer for local independent films and nationally syndicated TV shows. One afternoon in 2003, while looking for something to keep her hands busy while watching Oprah, Maile began making jewelry and accessories for herself. Her designs were so popular with friends who were bored by the mass-produced merchandise available in stores, that she found herself designing full-time. Thus began her career as the owner of Roundtree and Richardson, which now keeps her so busy that she is required to TiVo Oprah and watch it at odd hours. Although trained in jewelry design and fabrication, Maile’s true passion lies in seeking out the unusual and the forgotten. She travels extensively, always on the lookout for fresh ideas and styles. She loves to search for vintage pieces that she can rescue from obscurity and turn into modern treasures. Never fearing a bit of jetlag, this past year has taken her around the USA, Canada, Fiji and India, as well as to Sydney, London, and Paris. Her one-of-a-kind creations are sold in stores around the world. She currently lives in Seattle with her husband, her new baby daughter, and abnormally large golden retriever. Nicole Richardson Nicole Richardson was born in Washington State and began her artistic career with a degree in Industrial Design for the Art Institute of Seattle. At first she pursued trade-show and nightclub design working closely with art and music chapters of Seattle, but her love of jewelry design kept moving her in a different direction. Nicole started making jewelry at a very young age and with the application of her studies as well as an appetite for beautiful things, she found herself drawn to the craft as her profession. Her sense of style stems from a love of architecture, fashion and New York style appeal. Nicole has a natural talent and enjoys crafting detailed pieces with high-end gemstones and amazing wire wrapping. Her designs are modern, sleek and always unforgettable. They have been sold in such stores as Saks Fifth Avenue, in New York and Jeri Rice in Seattle. Her excelling career has taken her around the globe from New York and Hong Kong to Fiji and beyond. Nicole currently lives in Seattle with her husband and their crazy pug, Vino. Ordering Ordering from Roundtree and Richardson is safe and easy. Our secure store is part of PayPal. Because we work with many organic materials, each piece may vary slightly from that pictured and will have its own unique characteristics. 14k gold-filled We use 14k gold-filled chain and components in many of our designs. It is produced by permanently bonding a layer of solid 14k gold to a base metal. To be defined as gold-filled, the gold content must be 1/20th of the total metal weight. This is higher quality plating than the traditional gold plated and will not rub off with wear. Gold Vermeil This term is used to describe the heavy electroplating of sterling silver with a layer of solid gold. In order to be defined as gold vermeil, it must be a 2.5-micron thickness of gold of at least a 10k fineness. Gemstones We believe in quality and it is a priority to reflect this in our designs. Many gemstones on the market today are color enhanced and we make every effort not to use these unless they are an industry standard. Roundtree and Richardson strives for quality and ensures that all of our gems are genuine. Please email us if you have any questions.
